Former Methadone Clients Give You The Real Facts

Apparently Methadone affects your ability to read and write also!

I completely disagree with both of the people who wrote their story regarding their experience with methadone.

It seems like all they do is cry, cry, cry, about how bad methadone is for you. Hey bro, what about the gram you just slammed. That is so much better for you.

Then he said I was up to 110 mg and it made me worthless. Well it sounds to me that you didn't have a huge opiate problem to begin with and that you were scamming the clinic to raise your dose so that you could get high.

Regarding your second letter. Cry all you want about the cost of the clinic. I know I spent a lot way more money on the street getting my fix. And all this bitching about the withdrawals. I will admit they are much more intense but everybody knows that from the beginning if they did a little research.

Plus there are ways to handle it. You decrease your dose every week until you are at a manageable level and then you get on Suboxone. I went from 200mg per day down to 25mg per day, got on the Suboxone and was home free. Sure there was some pretty rough patches but you have to buck up and deal with it.

In general I believe most opiate addicts don't want to get clean that is why they make up any type of excuse to sabotage their recovery.

One more thing, Methadone has an outstanding property, it blocks other opiates from getting you high and that in itself makes it a worth while substitute drug to heroin or morphine.

Steve Sheldon

Note: The author misquotes the author of "Slow Road To Nowhere" when he states the author wrote "110 mg. made him worthless". What I'm hearing is "12 years of opiate addiction had rendered him incapable". Then he goes on to suggest Suboxone to a person that clearly stated in her story that she had detoxed with the help of Suboxone. Mr. Sheldon also neglected to give his work of art a title, so we helped him out a bit. Hey Steve! Why not tell us more of your story rather than just critique others?
